The Clark County Habitat for Humanity Store is moving! The Store recently signed a lease to take over the former site of Curt Warner Chevrolet, at 10811 SE Mill Plain Blvd., by July 2014 when the current least expires at the 4th Plain Blvd. location. With extra office space at the new location, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity will move its office from 521 E. 33rd Street to join the HFH Store. We are both excited about this unique opportunity to work more closely together.
The new site will be convenient for Clark County shoppers as well as individuals and businesses who donate materials to the store. Since 1991, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity has worked to improve living conditions for low-income Clark County residents. The non-profit organization works in partnership with people in need from all walks of life to develop communities by building safe, affordable housing. Currently, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity has completed 29 homes in Clark County, and served 78 families through new construction, repair programs, and its global tithe work. The HFH Store, along with the Portland and Beaverton Habitat for Humanity ReStores, raise funds to build affordable homes for families in the Vancouver/Portland areas and will fund eight homes this year. The stores sell donated building materials, appliances, furniture and other home improvement products at a fraction of retail prices. ReStores ease demand on natural resources by keeping usable materials out of the waste stream. Last year alone the three stores diverted over 3,500 tons of materials from the waste stream.
