Habitat for Humanity’s Tithe program is Habitat’s way of carrying on the tradition practiced in some faiths of donating ten percent of their income to their religious institution.
Many affiliates, including Evergreen Habitat for Humanity, participate in this program of donating ten percent of undesignated funds raised towards building a Habitat home in another country. Volunteers from the donating affiliate are invited to be part of the build. In 2011 Evergreen Habitat sent two volunteers to Haiti to work on an Evergreen Habitat Tithe.
In the fall of 2014, Evergreen Habitat sent 10 Clark County donors and volunteers to San Marcos, Guatemala where they spent a week partnering with two local families to build homes.
